Context
Students begin by sitting on the carpet in a circle. Students will move to tables to work on their graph package.
Materials
- Graph package (Appendix A)
- Pencils and erasers
Lesson
- Students will be filling out graphs.
- Go through and explain each graph (Appendix A). Remind students of the different components of a graph and how it should be filled out.
- It is important to emphasize that, for clarity, students must only fill in one box per unit so that it does not confuse the reader. For example: if there are two eggs in the bird’s nest, students should shade in precisely two boxes.
- When students finish filling in the graphs, they can practice reading the graphs with a partner or add in the numbers along the side of the graph.
