Peacebuilding Citizenship Teaching Resource

Peacebuilding citizenship education nurtures capabilities for both on-the-spot peacemaking (dialogue to resolve conflicts) and longer-term transformative peacebuilding (repair of unjust and fractured social relationships to prevent violence over time). Learners come to understand the actors (affected parties) and their perspectives and needs in various conflict situations, the systemic causes and barriers that make some conflicts difficult, and how to navigate such challenges to create peace.  Peacebuilding citizenship teaching creates a platform of equitable and inclusive relationships and participation processes, alongside motivations and capabilities for handling interpersonal and social conflicts to build durable peace.  This research-based resource is drawn from and designed for public school teaching.
