Education Commons is pleased to provide access to Google Workspace for Education to all students, staff, and faculty associated with the Master of Teaching program.  

Available Software 

Google Workspace for Education is a collection of cloud-based collaboration tools. This suite of tools is excellent for creating educational resources to support virtual teaching and learning. Education Commons will continue developing and supporting the use of Google Workspace for Education as we begin exploring third-party applications.

Eligibility 

Google Workspace for Education is currently only available to the Master of Teaching community. This includes students, staff, and faculty associated with the Master of Teaching program.


Accessing Google Workspace for Education

If you are part of the Master of Teaching community, your account is already set up on Google Workspace for Education. For access, please go to www.gmail.com and sign in with your University of Toronto login ID, making sure to change your login ID from @utoronto.ca to @oise.utoronto.ca.

Example: ryan.lahti@utoronto.ca changes to ryan.lahti@oise.utoronto.ca 

Once you enter your login ID into www.gmail.com, you will be prompted to verify your UTORid and password. This will take you to your Google Workspace page.

How do I access Google Workspace for Education? 

To access OISE’s Google Workspace for Education, please visit www.gmail.com and log in using your @oise.utoronto.ca email address. 

Where do I get an @oise.utoronto.ca email address? 

If you are a member of the Master of Teaching community (student, staff or faculty), an email address has already been created for you. Use your regular @utoronto.ca or @mail.utoronto.ca email address but switch the domain to @oise.utoronto.ca. 

How do I create a Google classroom? 

Click the app launcher button in the top-right corner of Gmail. From there, you can scroll through all the applications to find Google Classroom. Google Classroom is usually found near the bottom of the list. 

How can I archive old Google Classroom? 

To archive an old Google Classroom, go to the Google Classroom landing page and choose the class you wish to archive. Click the triple-dot button beside the course title and then select “archive.” 

How do I share files in Google? 

All files created in Google Workspace for Education can easily be shared to other internal or external email addresses. To share a file, go to Google Drive, select the file you wish to share and then select the “Share” button. There are various levels of shareability for Google files.
