Where to go  If your permanent address is in the City of Toronto which means that your postal code begins with the letter "M" you cannot go directly to Toronto Police Services.
  • If you are on the St. George campus, go to the OISE Registrar's Office & Student Experience (ROSE) to obtain the form and the required signature. You must bring acceptable ID.
Next Steps You must mail the completed form and payment to Toronto Police Services.

  • You must include a Certified Cheque or Money Order. No other payment (cash, credit or debit) is accepted.

  • Tell them you require a Vulnerable Sector Police Screening because you are going to be an unpaid student teacher and you will be working with students as part of your university program.
  • Be sure to tell them that you will be a student teacher in a volunteer position as part of your university program.
Registrar's Signature You do not need the Registrar's signature.

  • To qualify for the reduced fee charged to volunteers, you will be required to submit a letter confirming that you are in a volunteer/unpaid placement. 
    • A "Volunteer Placement" letter can be requested from the OISE Registrar’s Office & Student Experience in person or via email (admissions.oise@utoronto.ca). We will need your full name and student number in order to prepare this letter.

Where to go  If your permanent address is in Peel Region, complete the online application form and/or visit the lobby of the Peel Regional Police Brampton and Mississauga locations for hardcopy forms.
What to ask for?
  • Tell them you require a Vulnerable Sector Police Screening because you are going to be an unpaid student teacher and you will be working with students as part of your university program.
  • Be sure to tell them that you will be a student teacher in a volunteer position as part of your university program.

Additional Information

To receive a VSC, you must have a letter from the requesting agency/organization which provides:

  • confirmation that you require this type of check
  • a detailed description of the specific job you will be hired/volunteer for, in particular, how you will be working with vulnerable persons
  • hiring manager’s name and contact number

You must include the letter from the agency/organization when you submit your application.  A "Volunteer Placement" letter can be requested from the OISE Office of the Registrar & Student Services in person or via email (admissions.oise@utoronto.ca). We will need your full name and student number in order to prepare this letter.
