The following dates are sorted chronologically. Deadlines are effective by the End-of-Business-Day, unless otherwise noted.

The 2024-25 Fall-Winter schedule/timetable is posted by 5 pm on July 3, 2024 (tentatively).

Before you enroll in courses, check the schedule/timetable for enrolment restrictions additional to those that appear on ACORN.

Master of Teaching program courses will be pre-loaded based on cohorts and programs. Year 2 Master of Teaching students only will be selecting their final elective course in the Fall term (September to December)

Wednesday July 10, 2024

Course selection/enrolment for 2024 Fall and 2025 Winter courses begins at 6:00am via ACORN.

The first cycle of course enrolment for Fall and full year courses is July 10 to July 23.  There is no enrolment on July 24.  On July 25, enrolment will reopen and unused spaces in some courses are opened to other student categories as noted in course comments on the Course Schedule.

Registration for 2024 Fall and 2025 Winter session begins.

Students become REGISTERED:

  • when the Minimum Payment to Register Amount displayed on their current session ACORN invoice is credited to their student account
  • or they have successfully submitted an OSAP deferral to register on ACORN
  • or have an approved request to register without payment (fee deferral for award) in place

Enrolment in courses is not the same as Registration

Student will see status “Registered” (REG) on ACORN when registration is complete.

Monday July 15, 2024 Deadline to submit a complete application for admission as a Non-Degree (Special) Student to the 2024 Fall session.
Wednesday July 24, 2024

Application deadline for Non-degree special students intending to enroll in a fall 2024 course. Non-degree special students can be defined as students who choose to take coursework and are not registered in a program of study that leads to a degree.

Master of Teaching and MA-Child Study and Education programs final date to request a deferral of admission from the 2024 Fall Session to the 2025 Fall Session. For all other programs, the deadline is September 15.

Thursday August 29, 2024

Recommended date for tuition fee payment for students registering or starting their program in the Fall session. 

Payment by this date ensures that it is received by the registration deadline of September 13, and avoids cancellation of registration and course enrolment. 

International students must make a payment by this date to ensure they are covered by the University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP) at the beginning of September.

Friday August 30, 2024

Deadline for receipt of Individual Reading and Research Course approval forms for Fall session and full-year courses. 

Submit fully completed and authorized forms to the Registrar's Office and Student Experience, Registration Team. OISE graduate programs restrict the maximum number of IRR courses that a student can take; see the IRR form for details.

Saturday August 31, 2024 Deadline for new students to satisfy all conditions of admission, otherwise course enrolment and registration is cancelled and offer of admission is withdrawn.

Grades uploaded to eMarks for Summer session courses (May to August and July to August courses).  Deadline for previous session courses which have an approved SDF on eMarks, must be amended with the final grade earned.

Friday September 6, 2024

Coursework must be completed and grades approved by Department Chairs for May-August and July/August courses and 2024 Winter session course extensions (SDF designations). 

Instructors must submit grades in eMarks by September 4 to ensure approval by this date. 2024 Winter courses with an approved coursework extension will have the final grade calculated with zero assigned to any coursework that is still incomplete.

Friday September 6, 2024

Coursework must be completed and grades approved by Department Chairs for May-August and July/August courses and 2024 Winter session coursework extensions. Instructors must submit grades in eMarks by September 4 to ensure approval by this date.

Deadline for SDF designation for 2024 Winter session courses to be changed to a regular grade or a failing grade.

Monday September 9, 2024

Classes begin for Fall session and full-year courses. For most OISE programs, classes end November 29, 2024.

** The Master of Teaching program Fall Term is from September 9 to December 6

Wednesday September 11, 2024 Grades for May-to-August and July/August courses become available for viewing by students on ACORN.
Friday September 13, 2024

Required for students graduating at November (Fall) convocation:

  • Final grades for all courses on ACORN; all course extensions (SDF) must be resolved.
  • Departmental MRP completion forms for students in a program with an MRP requirement.
  • Signed Departmental Degree Recommendation forms for master's students completing a thesis. (Student must send the email from ETC/ProQuest to ROSE, confirming that the final master's thesis has been uploaded by September 29).
  • Receipt of notification for addition of completed emphasis/field of study to appropriate student records.
  • Confirmation of completed collaborative specializations from the collaborative specialization office. Students are expected to notify their collaborative specialization administrator that they will be graduating.
  • For doctoral candidates who have completed their Final Oral Examination for Fall (November) Convocation, final thesis must be submitted to SGS by this date to avoid fee charges for 2024 Fall term.  Note that , the final thesis must be successfully uploaded by September 25 for Fall (November) Convocation.
Friday September 13, 2024

Registration deadline for students registering or starting their program in the Fall (September to December) session. After this date, a late registration fee will be assessed. Minimum required payment due (unpaid fees from previous session[s] + 100% of current Fall tuition fee charges).

Students may opt out of some student society fees (listed on the ACORN invoice) within limited time periods at the beginning of each session. Procedures and timelines for opting out are available at: https://studentaccount.utoronto.ca.

Friday September 13, 2024 Waitlists will be cancelled for full-year and Fall session courses.
Friday September 13, 2024 Final date to request a deferral of admission from the 2024 Fall session to the 2025 Fall session. For the Master of Teaching and MA-Child Study and Education programs, the deadline was July 30.

Intent to Graduate: Master's students expecting to finish all degree requirements in the Fall session should submit the OISE Intent to Graduate form between September 15 and October 15. 

Students who complete in the Fall can select either March (in absentia) or June Convocation.

Wednesday September 18, 2024 Deadline to add full-year and Fall session courses via ACORN. From September 19 to September 23, instructor signed and fully approved course add forms are required.

Deadline date to request a Status Change for the fall session. Many OISE programs offer both a full-time status and a part-time status and we allow students to email requests to switch back and forth; however there are certain status change restrictions.

Each status allows for a maximum course load, If you have dropped a course or courses that now make you eligible for part-time status you must email us by today.

Deadline to submit final doctoral thesis for Fall (November) Convocation. Submit thesis before September 13 to avoid being charged Fall session fees.

Payment deadline to avoid service charges on unpaid Fall (September to December) session tuition and non-tuition fees for students registered in the Fall session only, except for those who have successfully registered without payment because they are receiving a full funding package via a research stipend, a major award or scholarship, teaching assistantships, tuition waiver, and/or sponsorships. 

Monthly service charges will begin accruing on October 15.

Friday November 29, 2024 Payment deadline to avoid service charges on unpaid Winter (January to April) session tuition and non-tuition fees for students registered in the Fall and Winter sessions, except for those who have successfully registered without payment because they are receiving Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) or other government loans, a full funding package via a research stipend, a major award or scholarship, teaching assistantships, tuition waiver, and/or sponsorships. Monthly service charges will begin accruing on December 15.

International students registering or starting their program in the Winter session (i.e., those who were not registered in the previous Fall session) must pay fees by this date to ensure they are covered by UHIP at the beginning of January.

Friday December 20, 2024 Recommended tuition fee payment deadline for all tuition fees billed for the 2024 tax year (Winter 2024, Summer 2024, and Fall 2024) for students who want eligible 2024 tuition fee payments to be reported on the 2024 calendar T2202 tax certificate, available for students to view and print on ACORN on February 21, 2025.

This is also the day that 50% refund for withdrawal from a session begins, (you must also email us if you wish to withdraw from this session.)

Wednesday January 22, 2025 Final date for fall term finishers to request that their degrees be conferred in absentia in March. Please be reminded that students accepting degrees in absentia are not eligible to attend convocation ceremonies.

Friday April 4, 2025 Last day of 2025 Winter session and full-year lectures (except for Master of Teaching program courses).

Wednesday April 9, 2025 For students obtaining degrees at June Convocation, coursework must be completed and grades submitted for full-year and Winter session courses. Instructors must upload grades to eMarks and 'Save as Draft' by this date. This includes all Year 2 MT and MA-CSE students.

Master's students in thesis programs who are graduating in June:

  • Degree recommendations must be submitted to ROSE by departments (fully signed and approved). Be sure to plan ahead for signing time.
  • MRP/Thesis must be uploaded, and proof of thesis upload email from the ProQuest ETD Administrator must be forwarded to the Registration team in ROSE.

Note: Many thesis uploads require formatting and corrections to be finalized. Be sure to leave plenty of time for editing.

Students with dual registrations in the Winter session must be recommended for the master's degree by this date to maintain their PhD registration.
