Making Spaces Lab is building a legacy of academic scholarship, programs and interventions for/by/about Black families, children & youth focused on education, health and well-being. The Research and Evaluation, Implementation, Mentoring and Education (RIME) activities of the Making Spaces Lab fill critical gaps in existing knowledge on Black children, youth and families related to:

1. Intersectionality, social determinants and syndemics
2. Evidence-based interventions tailored for African, Caribbean, Black people in Canada
3. Mentorship curriculum and content designed to nurture the next generation of Black scholars and practitioners in the education, health and human service sectors
4. Popular education approaches that use the arts and social media to galvanize transformative learning and activism to bring about social transformation
