Making Spaces Lab is building a legacy of academic scholarship, programs and interventions for/by/about Black families, children & youth focused on education, health and well-being. The Research and Evaluation, Implementation, Mentoring and Education (RIME) activities of the Making Spaces Lab fill critical gaps in existing knowledge on Black children, youth and families related to:
- Intersectionality, social determinants and syndemics
- Evidence-based interventions tailored for African, Caribbean, Black people in Canada
- Mentorship curriculum and content designed to nurture the next generation of Black scholars and practitioners in the education, health and human service sectors
- Popular education approaches that use the arts and social media to galvanize transformative learning and activism to bring about social transformation
