Fatima Rizwan
Biography
Fatima is a Graduate Assistant at OISE, University of Toronto. She is pursuing a Master’s degree in Education Leadership and Policy and specializing in Comparative, International and Development Education. She is an alumna of the Teach for All network, having worked as a Fellow for Teach for Pakistan in a multi-lingual, low-income community on the outskirts of Karachi. Through her experiences teaching in a public school in Pakistan, she feels strongly about equity in education particularly within the context of developing countries. The last few months she worked with the UNICEF Innovation Team researching on and understanding the challenges within the EdTech sector such as scale vs. localized learning.
Working with the UNICEF Innovation Fund, she helped in shortlisting companies that were providing solutions for improving education through technology in developing countries either through innovative mobile apps or MOOC platforms. Her research interests vary from understanding agenda setting and policy decision making, to the role of technology in improving equity in education.
