Alexandra Makos
Biography
Dr. Alexandra Makos obtained her PhD in the Department of Curriculum, Teaching and Learning at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto. She has completed degrees in Human Biology (HBSc), Art History (MA), and Education (MEd) from the University of Toronto.
Her research interest lies in the design of online learning environments and higher education. She is particularly interested in design-based research involving the development of intelligent systems and tools that contribute to the improvement of Pepper as an online collaborative learning environment. Alexandra’s research seeks to understand the emotional impact of the Like button when used in an academic online learning environment. Specifically she is looking at how the Like button is used to scaffold student socio-emotional relations as a foundation for their course content-related interactions.
