Getting Started Checklist

GET STARTED

Read important information for Newly Admitted Students.

Bookmark the OISE Important Dates website.

Create your Student Account (TCard, UTORid, U of T email)

2.

MT STUDENTS: COMPLETE A VULNERABLE SECTOR SCREENING AND CRIMINAL RECORD CHECK

MT Students are required to complete a Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS) and Criminal Record Check. Students entering Year 1 should apply between June and July. Students entering Year 2 should update their VSS by the end of August. You will not be able to enter a practicum school without a completed VSS.

MT COURSE ENROLMENT

Review the Course Enrolment information. 

Year 1 Master of Teaching students will be automatically enrolled in courses by mid-August.

You do not need to enroll in courses via ACORN.

MT students interested in teaching in a Catholic school are required to take a religious education certificate course. This course is available through OISE's Continuing & Professional Learning (CPL) department. This course is offered once per academic year between September-December.  Learn more about the Teaching in Ontario’s Catholic Schools course.

Familiarize yourself with your program course codes and frequently asked questions

Check the course schedule and plan your courses (available early July for viewing) 

Enroll in Fall and Winter session courses (begins mid-July at 6:00 am EST - exact date will be announced)

CHECK REGISTRATION STATUS ON ACORN

If your registration status says, “Financial Cancelled”, you will need to satisfy your conditions of admission before proceeding with fee payments. 

If your registration status says “Invited”, proceed with fee payments (starting mid-July).

5.

REGISTER: PAY OR DEFER FEES

Review information on Registration

Check your invoice on ACORN (tuition and ancillary fees are posted at the end of July).

Pay fees through your bank (or financial institution) by the deadline. For information on how to make a payment, visit the Student Accounts website.

OR

If you will be receiving OSAP, a major scholarship, or a MA FT/PhD FT funding package, apply for a fee deferral. 

Check back in 1-2 weeks to see if your ACORN status says “REGISTERED” for the session.
