Academic Platform for Language in University Settings (Aplus)

The Academic Platform for Language in University Settings (APLUS) is a self-paced online platform that incorporates aspects of self-regulated learning (planning, monitoring, reflection on learning) to support student’s development of communication skills in academic settings while deepening their knowledge and practice of academic integrity.

In the Academic Integrity module, students learn to critically evaluate the reliability of sources, understand how to use referencing and attribution to avoid plagiarism, practice citation styles and build awareness of ethical issues related to academic integrity.

In the Oral and Written Communication modules, students build their oral and written communication skills by participating in a series of integrated learning activities with scaffolded feedback provided along the way. Through these activities they learn about different types of communication requirements in academic settings and are introduced to rich resources.

The development of the Aplus platform is funded by the University's International Student Experience Fund.
