Liam Hannah is a PhD candidate at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto. His research interests are in measurement, psychometrics, and validity questions regarding automated assessment methodologies deployed in educational settings. This research considers both the positive implications and the potential negative impact of these tools if they are not considered critically, with validity and fairness top of mind. This work has led to three publications relating to these topics in Language Assessment Quarterly and Language Testing. Liam has also presented work on automated oral reading fluency at the annual language testing research colloquium and been involved as an additional author in several publications and book chapters on similar topics.
