Aisha Heywood

Aisha Heywood is currently a PhD Candidate in Developmental Psychology and Education at the University of Toronto. Her research focuses on how artificial intelligence (AI) technology and dynamic assessment can enhance reading and writing skills in children. 

Aisha worked as research assistant in the BalanceAI lab at OISE, which has developed an innovative, web-based assessment tool for students in Grades 3-6. BalanceAI evaluates children’s oral language, literacy, cognitive development, motivation, self-efficacy, self-regulation, and resilience.  

With over 20 years of experience, Aisha has supported adults, children, and youth with ADHD, Autism, learning disabilities, dual diagnosis, and brain injuries. Her professional expertise includes teaching, crisis management, policy development, case management, assessments, transition planning, and consultation. She regularly attends conferences across Canada and the United States, contributing to the broader discussion on reading and writing skills.
