Research Interests
Shelly’s research interests include amplifying children’s voices and narratives, especially newcomers, in early learning settings. She is also interested in anti-racist frameworks, liberation-focused approaches, and critical pedagogy in early years spaces. Shelly works for the Association of Early Childhood Educators as a Community of Practice lead for the newly created ECE faculty collective. Shelly is currently working with the Ontario Coalition of Better Child Care on their anti-racism project entitled, creating an anti-racist child care system in Ontario.
