What are some words of wisdom/encouragement you would give to a new or incoming student in your program?
Relationship power! I would encourage everyone to attend to their relational needs while on the grad school journey. I’m fortunate to have been bolstered and energized by people who I met at OISE and held tight by my circle of care outside of OISE. It would have been a much harder trek without them. You may find it valuable to connect with people who are a few laps ahead on the obstacle course for support and cheer leading. If you’re reading this would like to chat, please reach out!
What next?
I’ll be working as a psychologist in supervised practice at Kinark Child and Family Services and Bright Lights Psychology Clinic.
Why OISE?
At OISE, we get the opportunity to blur the lines between the disciplines of psychology and education. I found it particularly valuable to be in a learning community with teacher candidates and trained educators, developmental psychologists, and clinicians specializing in adult populations alongside my SCCP peers. The interdisciplinary opportunities enriched my clinical, research, and teaching practices. OISE has consistently attracted brave, radical, and kind learners and I’ve been grateful to learn alongside them inside and outside of the classroom.
