OISE rises four spots in latest Times Higher Education global subject rankings
In the 2024 subject rankings announced by Times Higher Education, the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education has jumped four spots – rising to ninth in the world.
The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2024 by subject uses the same trusted and rigorous performance indicators as the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2024, but the methodology has been recalibrated to suit individual fields – including education.
The ranking highlights the universities that are leading across education, teacher training, and academic studies in education.
OISE was included in a list of 703 listed global universities, up from 655 in 2022. OISE has risen in this ranking, previously placing 17th in the 2022 ranking.
“Our Institute’s placement in this ranking, and its rise since 2022’s list, is an indication of OISE’s continued commitment to a fruitful education for its students,” said Professor Erica N. Walker, Dean of OISE. “This acknowledgement by the Times Higher Education subject ranking for 2024 is a shared honour with our community, where we continue to strive to have broad impact on educational research and practice.”
The Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) remains in place as the highest ranked educational institute in Canada across international rankings. In March, OISE was ranked seventh in the world by QS World University Rankings. OISE generally ranks high on the ShanghaiRanking Consultancy rankings, and was ranked tenth in 2022.
Overall, U of T continues to be the highest-ranked Canadian university and ranked among the top 25 universities globally in the five most closely watched international rankings: Times Higher Education World University Rankings, QS World University Rankings, ShanghaiRanking Consultancy’s Academic Ranking of World Universities, U.S. News & World Report’s Best Global Universities and National Taiwan University World University Rankings.
