OISE continues top ten place in QS world subject rankings
The Ontario Institute for Studies in Education is now ranked as the 8th best educational institution in the world and the highest ranked Canadian-based institute.
The QS World University Rankings by Subject is compiled annually to assist future students in identifying leading universities in specific subjects. The ranking highlights universities that excel across education, teacher training, and academic studies in education subjects. Rankings indicators include academic reputation, employer reputation, and citations per paper, among others.
Founded in 1965 by an act of the Ontario Legislature, OISE is one of the largest and most research-intensive faculties of education in North America and is recognized as a global leader in graduate programs in teaching and learning, continuing teacher education, and education research. OISE consistently ranks in the global Top Ten of this ranking – the Institute ranked 7th in 2023, 4th in the world in 2022 and 3rd in 2021 by QS.
“Our continued placement as one of the world’s top educational institutions by QS World University Rankings signifies our commitment to leave a lasting impact on the field,” said Professor Erica N. Walker, Dean of OISE. “OISE’s outstanding research profile and the thoughtful and enterprising work of our faculty, students, staff, and alumni to create compelling academic programs and foster long-lasting and essential partnerships deserve far and wide recognition.
“On behalf of our community, I am grateful and delighted that we have once again received this international recognition from the QS World University Rankings body.”
OISE is also rated highly by other ranking bodies. In 2023, the Institute re-entered the Times Higher Education World University Rankings – rising to ninth globally. In 2022, The ShanghaiRanking Consultancy ranked OISE 10th globally in its Global Ranking of Academic Subjects, marking the second consecutive year the Institute placed 10th.
