The Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) remains the top ranked faculty of education in Canada and holds a prestigious 10th place position globally, according to the 2025 QS World University Rankings by Subject.

Compiled annually by the international body, the QS Rankings assist future students in identifying leading universities in specific subjects. It highlights universities that excel across areas such as employer and academic reputation, citation per paper, teacher training, and academic studies in education subjects.

“The cornerstone of OISE’s strength as an institution lies in its faculty and students, and the crucial support they receive from staff, alumni, and friends,” said Professor Erica N. Walker, Dean of OISE. “Without them, our compelling academic programs, long-lasting and essential partnerships, and enterprising and thoughtful research would not receive the profound recognition of these ranking organizations.

“We are grateful and humbled for this recognition, and are reminded of the importance of our work through our professional and research programs, which have impact across Canada and around the world.”

Founded in 1965 by an act of the Ontario Legislature, OISE is one of the largest and most research-intensive faculties of education in North America and is recognized as a global leader in graduate programs in teaching and learning, continuing teacher education, and education research. OISE regularly ranks as Canada’s top education institute by QS, Times Higher Education and ShanghaiRanking Consultancy.
